Why is it that the weeks seem to creep along, and the weekends inexplicably rush by? It's one of life's greatest mysteries. Still, there's no reason not to enjoy the journey. Learning to love the Mondays is crucial - they do make up 1/7th of our life, after all! We've pulled together 3 tried and true ways to beat that back-to-work blah.
1. Wake up Early.
Stay with us for a minute - this is actually our number one tip for having a better day! Set your alarm for 20-30 minutes before you absolutely need to get out of bed, and treat yourself with a relaxed morning routine. (Not an early riser? Set your alarm for one hour before you have to get up, and let yourself wake up slowly. Or press the sleep button a couple of times. It'll feel like a little treat, trust us!)
We like to make coffee or tea, and spend a little time doing something we totally love. It could be reading a passage in a book, or time spent journaling or meditating. Studies show that you are your most creative in the morning, so give your mind a little time to wander! It's crazy how much better this will make you feel going into your day.
Bonus: schedule a little time on Sunday night to get a head start on emails, or even finish up those last few tasks you didn't quite complete on Friday. You'll feel like you're miles ahead when you finally sit down at your desk on Monday morning.
2. Treat Yourself.
You know we're huge fans of treating yourself. Schedule a few little things to make Monday special. Make plans for happy hour with a friend, sign up for a restorative yoga class, or pack your favorite thing for lunch. These little things can go a long way towards transforming your week. Planning ahead ensures that you'll stick to your guns when things get hectic. You'll want to give yourself a hug when you sit down for a glass of vino with a good friend.
3. Set Priorities.
It's really easy to stress out about stuff when you don't have a good idea of what is ahead. Take some time before the day gets totally crazy to write out your plan for the week. List out the things that absolutely must get done each day, write out your appointments, and confirm any meetings. There's something about seeing everything listed out on paper that makes feel like everything is going to be A-OK. And we know we don't have to tell you how good it feels to strike through the tasks as you finish them.
Here's another pro tip - put a couple of things on your list that you've already completed. That way, you'll get to cross them off your list as soon as you get started. There's something about this small trick that creates much-needed Monday momentum.
As a bonus, we've created this adorable little to-do list to keep you motivated throughout the week. Just 'cause we love ya. PS - excuse the language. But if there's a day to get sh*t done, it's Monday. Click the image below to access it now!
Good luck! You've got this. And just think - Friday will be here before we know it.
